Differentiating the different types of tiles: Ceramic, Marble and Granite
Granite is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar with small amounts of mica and other minerals. Quartz appears as whitish patches while mica appears as black specks.
On top of that, a close visual inspection of the granite surface will reveal a tight fleck/speck pattern that is unique to granite. It is hard and cannot be scratched by a penknife.
Limestone often has shell or fossil impressions. This is because they are usually formed in marine waters (biochemical origin).

Marble has interlocking mosaic veins and swirls, which exudes elegance and prestige. As marble primarily consists of calcite, it reacts to acid. An acid test can be used to determine whether the floor material is marble.
[Acid Test: Put a drop of acid on a conspicious area. If it fizzles or bubbles, the tile is made of marble. If the marble is polished, there will be a loss of gloss observed in the applied area.]
Ceramic is man-made. Hence, the tiles can be any colour, and the exact pattern can be replicated easily. Natural stones, on the other hand, will not be identical.
